Since the Dam Scandal came to light, the political scene has considerably heated up with insults flying around. It has been no holds barred and the Kalenjin politicians have made it known they’re willing to go the long haul, even if it involves fighting.

It is worth mentioning on the same breadth that Uhuru saw the tension Ruto camps were building and took it upon himself to possibly acquiesce his restless deputy. What they discussed will remain a mystery but nobody should get surprised if the Dam probes die the usual death.

In politics, the mention of a fight excites fear and non other than Ruto has been using it. He tweets it. He raps it on microphones. He laces it with outright hate. His eyes show rage, real or acted.

The Dam Scandal has opened the famed pandora’s box. Nobody knows what is coming, especially the dirty politicians. Should the investigative agencies actualize their threats to take people to court, we Pexpect even more revelations, tit for tat in design.

Looked at flippantly, Ruto has opened fire on Raila, accusing him of all manner of evils. He is rallying his lieutenants and the shrill voiced Duale joined the fray over the weekend. By attacking Raila ferociously, they create a diversion. The public takes its eyes off the bigger evil, the debilitating corruption scandals and start concentrating on concocted stories. The plan is to create a political diversion.

Raila is being called all manner of names: a mganga, a party breaker, a tribalist,an agent of poverty and in some clever instances, Uhuru is thrown in the mix. Sometimes they attack the investigative agencies directly, questioning their capacity.

The Dam Scandal puts Ruto into a dangerous corner. He knows this might be his political Waterloo and that is why he is shooting from the hips.

Having realized the danger he finds himself In, Ruto and his team have deliberately decided to go even further down: obstruct the entire attempts at getting into the truth behind the dam scandal. In simple terms, they are out to scuttle the attempts at getting justice!

Obstruction of justice is a serious offense and in serious democracies, the consequences are grave. Nixon got forced out of office and Trump is worried. One of the grounds for impeachment against Clinton was obstruction of justice.

In certain jurisdictions, obstruction of justice is a crime against justice itself. It undermines the foundations of the legal system, consequently weakening the state.

Administration of justice must be orderly and procedural. It fears noice and disorderliness. Your day in court is as important as your life and that’s the reason courts guard against any form of malice within the court houses.

When you loudly attack investigative agencies, you obstruct the administration of justice. Crying foul during the process of investigations hurts the law processes. Threatening consequences is as equally disruptive as hiring political comedians to constantly attack the police agencies.

Obstruction is a crime which can take any number of forms, whether it’s bribery, tampering with evidence, lying to investigators, abusing one’s power, or some other act intended to impede a criminal investigation.

A lot has happened in the recent past as regards the Dam scam, from creating imaginary enmity to throwing around figures to confuse the general public.

From the look of things, the Dam Scandal investigations are entering the usual cold stretch and do not expect to get much from the police agencies. The process seems to be slackenning and some quarters are already doing the victory lap.
