A family from Busia County has achieved a rare phenomenon by producing three engineers from the same institution.

Chief Officer in the Department of Public Works, Transport, Roads and Energy Engineer Gilbert Anyango Oduory was the first to Graduate with Bachelor of Civil Engineering at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT).

On Friday his brother Eng. Samuel Paul Anyango and sister Eng. Beatrice Nabwire Anyango graduated from the institution with BSC in Civil Engineering.
Eng. Oduory said his siblings would not have attained their cherished dreams if it were not for his efforts following the death of our parents.
“I started taking care of them when they were in class one. Beatrice scored an A- at Bulimbo Girls Secondary School with Samuel scoring a B+ at Butula Boys. Despite earlier resistance I sponsored them to pursue Civil Engineering at JKUAT,” he said.

Eng. Oduory said it is also a coincidence that his daughter is pursuing an architecture degree course at the same institution. “Busia has now additional engineers and I encourage others to give a shot at it.”

Busia County has rolled out scholarships for specialized courses including medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, Land economics and engineering degrees. Three students to be picked in each of the 35 wards will be enrolled in public schools next year.
