MEET JAMAL IBRAHIM aka 007, JAMES BOND OF MATATUS
BY MOHAMED WARSAMA
TWENTY-SEVEN-SOMETHING-YEAR-OLD Jamal Ibrahim is the James Bond of the Nairobi Matatus. He was thrust into the limelight by the Nairobi City matatu crisis by virtue of his position as chairman of Matatu Association in Nairobi CBD.
Born in Mandera, where he hails from the Garre Somali Community, Jamal last year unsuccessfully sought a Nairobi South MCA seat.
However, he is now basking in the limelight thanks to the matatu crisis and the lead role he has played in getting Governor Sonko to rescind his CBD ban order.
Come 2022, this new kid on the block will be a formidable candidate for one of the parliamentary constituencies.
Kamukunji now held by incumbent Yusuf Hassan will be up for grabs as the powerful Nairobi Somali Business Community has made it clear the seat should be contested by another member of the community as Hassan would have completed his two terms.
