NTSA bans night travel for long distance PSVs from December 31
National Transport and Safety authority has banned night travel for long distance PSV beginning today. The ban follows an accident earlier today that led to loss of over 34 lives and several injuries.
The driver was reportedly speeding on the wrong lane when it came face to face with an Eldoret bound trailer.
“Over the recent past, our records indicare that majority of crashes occur during the night. In order to review the effectiveness of the current measures in place tp improve road safety, the Authority in consultation with other relevant Government agencies hereby suspends night travel for long distance public service vehicles from 31st December 2017” NTSA Kenya said in a statement.
The statement added “All travel must be scheduled to take place between 6am to 7pm. We assure the public that all is being done to address the upsurge of fotal crashes across the country. We appeal to all motorists to be extra vigilant”.
