The Deputy Governor Kisumu County, Dr Mathew Ochieng Owili has called on the people to embrace the spirit of the handshake.
Speaking while presiding over a community meeting in Nyakach Sub County, the Deputy Governor explained that development cannot take hold when confrontation is the order of the day.
He observed that the handshake was done in good faith between Raila and Uhuru and the cosequent peace has put the country back on a track of growth and development bearing in mind the disvisions which visited the country after the bungling of elections.
Dr Owili observes that the Cannan is still a possibility for all kenyans regardless of the political and ethnic differences adding that those who oppose peace and unity are the crocodiles beneath the peace bridges built built across the country.
At the same meeting, he advised the people present to form viable groups and use the same to access funds from the county, especially cooperative and enterprise funds which are available.
Present were Kisumu County cabinet ministers, the Chief Whip, Gard Olima, Church leaders and a host of other opinion leaders.
The people also reaffirmed their support for the county government of Kisumu, praising Nyongo’s deputy for his honesty, dilligence and humility, virtues they said are hard to come by in the politics of today.
Owili also assured them that the County Government programs are all on track as drawn in the manifesto, saying he is confident the people will return a positive feedback at the end of the five year term.
